Russian Club

The Russian Club for Year 7 and 8  is very popular.

The emphasis is principally on spoken Russian. Students learn basic vocabulary and take part in simple but very useful conversations, such as exchanging information about themselves or ordering food. In addition the girls are learning the cyrillic alphabet and how to read and write in Russian. We aim for the girls to be able to recognise the whole alphabet, learn some vocabulary and be able to write some words from memory.  The following photos show girls learning their first Russian words.

Students from FHS who are native speakers of Russian also help out in the Club assisitng with dialogues, showing extracts from films and even bringing home-cooked food for the members of the Club to taste. We are planning a visit to a Russian café in Kensington to further initiate our students in the culinary art of Russia!
