Modern Foreign Languages Clubs

The Modern Foreign Languages Department runs a French Film Club, which shows French films at lunchtime in school and also organises trips to the cinema.

The club shows both classic and modern French films and it gives valuable experience of both French language and culture.  Girls become familiar with renowned French directors and of course French film stars too.

Our Russian Club  is also popular - click for details. There are plans to set up Spanish and German Film Clubs in the near future.

Sixth form students have access to a satellite room, where they can receive live broadcasts from foreign stations.  This is particularly useful in keeping them up to date with overseas news.

For girls in Years 2 and 3, the Tricolore French Club is available as an extra.  Here, they learn basic vocabulary through singing and games and many girls find this an enjoyable introduction to learning French before it becomes part of their curriculum study.
