We set off from school at 12.15 on Thursday afternoon, having started the day with four or five lessons and lunch. After settling into our rooms at the hotel in Cambridge and becoming acquainted with the area (i.e. raiding the Tesco sweet aisle), it was time for the first of our two main events, the Spy Mission. Working in small groups with a team leader, we had to work together to manoeuvre our way through various obstacles, which involved lots of ducking, diving and climbing. It was a real change from working in a classroom environment and definitely brought a sense of adventure to the trip.
As all of us were ravenous after the coach journey and Spy Mission, the dinner at Carluccio’s was very much enjoyed. After spending the night and enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we were treated to a walking tour Cambridge, including a glimpse at several colleges and a visit to Kings College Chapel. The architecture was spectacular. Learning about university life at Cambridge and contemplating the honour that comes with such an opportunity has surely provided all of us with an incentive to work hard for the next two years.
Given two hours free time after our tour, we separated into smaller groups to explore the town, and hunt for the most appealing choice of restaurant for lunch. It was sunny, Cambridge looked beautiful, and we ended a fantastic trip to Cambridge on a bright note.
