Through the teaching of art, we aim to provide pupils with the skills, concepts and knowledge needed for them to express ideas, feelings and experiences through the successful production of individual work.

In the department, we strive:
*to encourage the development of the pupils’ imagination, personal expression and creativity
*to develop the pupils’ ability for the appreciation and evaluation of art
*to increase the pupils’ visual awareness of the world around them both natural and man-made
*to be able to value the contribution made by artists from other cultures
*to provide a happy structured environment conducive for the flourishing of school aims
The department staff comprise Mr David Edes, who is the head of department and two part-time teaching staff, Miss Jane de Rome and Mrs Camilla Fyfe.
Mr Edes is currently working on an exhibition on seascapes, Miss de Rome is working on illustrating and writing a book for children and Mrs Fyfe has recently exhibited her own work in London.
All the staff are working artists and offer a huge range of creative skills, from drawing and painting to graphic design and sculpture.
Resources
The Art Department at Francis Holland is situated on the top floor of the Grosvenor building. The atmosphere is lively, friendly and industrious.
We have a wide range of resources available, from computer technology to printing presses and a kiln room.
