Jane has been writting for twenty-five years. She studied illustration at art college, and was taught by Raymond Briggs before becoming an Art teacher herself. Her first book Old Bear was published in 1986. Other picture books featuring the same nursery characters followed including Little Bear Lost, Jolly Snow, Jolly Tall and Ruff. Jane talked about her writing and in particular her illustrations which are drawn from real life and feature her own toys, which she played with as a child.
Jane brought her collection of toys with her, in particular Old Bear and Little Bear. She gave two talks, one to the infants and the second one to the juniors.
Jane particularly praised our Juniors for asking such good questions, some of which she hadn't heard in all her years of visiting school children!
